Albuquerque, New Mexico is the ballooning capitol of the world. Each October the sky fills with hot air balloons from all over the world during the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
I took my first flight in 1987 and joined my first balloon crew in 1990. I chased balloons for 15 years after that. Needless to say when you put a photographer in the middle of the most photographed event in the world you get a lot of photographs.
Being part of a local balloon team gave me opportunity to get photos of hot air balloons year 'round. The weather in New Mexico is conducive to flying most weekends. A photographer's dream.
New Mexico's also known for it's breathtaking sunsets. As a photographer I can't resist capturing these gorgeous evening spectacles.
Here are some of my favorite and best photographs of hot air balloons and sunsets.
